Bangor College – Lecturer in English Language
Applications are invited for the full time faculty position in Bangor College, Central South University of Forestry and Technology, Changsha, China.
Bangor College is an exciting new development that provides a high quality British style education to students in China. A range of undergraduate programmes are delivered in Bangor College including: BSc in Accounting and Finance, BSc in Banking and Finance, BSc in Electronic Engineering, BSc in Forestry and Environmental Management. The programmes incorporate provision for students to complete their entire degree in Bangor College or to transfer to the main university campus in Bangor, UK to complete their degree. All programmes are based on the curricula, teaching methods, academic standards and regulations of Bangor University.
The post is based in the modern city of Changsha, capital of Hunan province. CSUFT is a comprehensive university, with over 30,000 students, has a favorable location with convenient transportation, including Maglev Train, metro, bus, taxi, etc, with easy access to local supermarkets, hotels, schools, hospitals etc, within 30 minute drive from the nearest airport Changsha Huanghua Airport. The CSUFT team will provide assistance to help the successful applicant with their local needs, if necessary.

Main Responsibilities:
Teaching duties will include:
• Planning, preparing and delivering lectures and tutorials in English language and responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes.
• Motivating students to engage in learning and providing meaningful and constructive feedback on their work.
• Keeping abreast of new professional, educational and related social, economic and technological developments.
• Acting as personal tutor to undergraduate students.
• Aiding the development of new programmes.
Research duties will include:
• Personal research, and/or collaborative research with colleagues in Bangor College.
• Contributing towards the College’s capability to attract external research funding.
• Disseminating and publishing results of research in high quality peer-reviewed journals.
Administrative duties will include:
• Contributing to the College's management and participating in the administration of undergraduate programmes.
• Undertaking other administrative duties and responsibilities as directed by the College and the Vice Dean of Teaching and Learning.
Person Specification
Essential
• PhD in English or a relevant subject area.
• Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience) in English or other relevant subject area.
• Knowledge of the structure and operation of degree programmes in British/Western universities.
• Excellent organisation, communication and inter-personal skills.
• Ability to teach or deliver modules in academic English writing.
• Ability to work accurately to deadlines and under pressure.
• Ability to design, deliver, assess and revise teaching programmes.
• Ability to devise, adviseon and manage learning/research.
• An excellent team player.
• Flexibility when required.
Salary
From RMB 9,000 to 13,000 per month (pre-tax)
On campus accommodation is available for non-Chinese academic staff. Assistance of travelling expenses is available for Chinese academic staff.
